The 2023 National Young Research Award "Margarita Salas" has been awarded to Miguel Mompeán "for his innovative and multidisciplinary approach to biology, employing cutting-edge techniques in the fields of chemistry and structural biology. He has been a pioneer in combining Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in solution and solid-state NMR to characterize the formation of biomolecular condensates and their conversion into amyloids"
